In the framework of the SEIS project, support is given to Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Israel, Tunisia and soon Morocco to introduce Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) as an effective tool in their national reporting systems. The six pilot exercises are under implementation with the support of UNEP/MAP-MEDPOL and at the regional level also with the support of the Capacity Building component of Horizon 2020. The project is progressing in Egypt, with the organisation of a first national workshop in March 2013 that gathered in Alexandria the national stakeholders and representatives of industry. A national workshop was organised in Tunisia in August 2013 gathering national administrations from different sectors. The national workshops in Palestine and Lebanon are underway, while the PRTR pilot in Israel aims at the development of the necessary interaction from the content and infrastructure point of view between PRTR and other reporting systems in place (e.g. the LBS Protocol of the Barcelona Convention). The PRTR pilot in Morocco is expected to start soon.
