The H2020 Capacity Building Component and the CB/MEP
Over 1900 administrators, local authorities, professionals and NGO staff have been trained in the first three years of the H2020 Capacity Building component
More than 1900 professionals from ministries, local authorities, institutions, agencies, NGOs, industries, business organizations, chambers of commerce, universities and research institutes, as well as politicians and Members of Parliament, journalists, educators, etc. of 14 Mediterranean countries have been trained in one or more of the eighty five (85) Horizon 2020 capacity building activities that have taken place in the past three years. Two more years of Capacity Building activities to continue under Horizon 2020
The Work Programme for the Horizon 2020 capacity building activities that will take place over the next two years (2013-2014) is under development and will be finalised in January 2013. For the time being Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, [Syria] and Tunisia are participating, while efforts are underway to also include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Turkey as soon as possible.
Around forty four (44) activities are expected to be delivered at regional, sub-regional and national level (including at least six study visits) focusing on Urban Waste Water, Municipal Solid Waste, Industrial Emissions and Environmental Integration. Very thorough consultations with the other Horizon 2020 components and projects are underway, as are efforts to complement, strengthen and streamline with the other relevant regional projects and processes, such as UNEP/MAP MEDPOL, SWIM-SM, the MedPartnership, etc.
